Our new interBLOK partnership

As we enter into our next year of business and celebrate turning 10 this month, we are excited to shine the spotlight on our new philanthropy partner interBLOK. Based out of Los Angeles California, interBLOK is new non-profit with a vision for rebuilding orphanages Internationally using shipping containers. Their first initiative will start with the design and build out of a classroom constructed from two shipping containers. Sending these containers full of supplies to orphanages in need of support and a safe structure to educate their children is what its all about, and why we feel so connected to their mission.

After two years of working with Door of Faith orphanage in Baja Mexico we had been searching for the next step with our philanthropy efforts. Through our fundraising efforts and our Give Back Program we raised over $12,500 for Door of Faith to provide school supplies for 100 kids and help rebuild a boys dormitory. Our team has forever been touched from these experiences supporting less fortunate children across our border. When we heard about interBLOK’s mission we jumped at the opportunity to get involved and start making a bigger impact globally with them! View this video to hear about it from their own words.

Our efforts with interBLOK will kick off with a fundraiser at our 10 Year Anniversary celebration at Parq Nightclub in San Diego this coming April 21st. But they will go far beyond a single event as we’re excited to form a long term partnership to build awareness and financially support the growth of their vision. Our initiative to give back a portion of our net proceeds through our Give Back Program will ensure that we’ll be supporting year round from all of our fashion sales and entertainment proceeds!

So join us on Tuesday April 21st for our 10 Year San Diego party and go shop our new Decade fashion capsule today to support!

TREES Kickstarter partnership

We are honored to be a part of a Kickstarter project bringing awareness about Domestic Violence through the independent film titled TREES. Our founder Jason Herrick was exposed to Domestic Violence growing up that changed the course of his mothers life. After 10 years of homelessness stemmed from the abuse, his mother Joie came to live with him in San Diego in 2002. In mid 2005 Joie helped start this company by sewing the original style of t-shirts and continues to help build with the company today. So this subject hits very close to home for us and when filmmaker and friend David Arthur Clark asked us to collaborate on a Kickstarter reward it was an easy decision to join forces and help spread awareness.

For our partnership we teamed up with our friends at Plus One Water to create a reward that not only supports the making of the film, puts  a prize on your back with the limited edition t-shirt, but also puts a case of water into a local San Diego shelter for Domestic Abuse victims. This is a WIN! WIN! WIN! situation for just $75 so please support if you can by making a pledge to the Trees Kickstarter campaign and be apart of this project with us! The 2013 Give Back Trip to Door of Faith Orphanage

Our 2014 DoFO goal: $7500

Early this year we decided there was still more work for us to do with the Door of Faith Orphanage in Baja Mexico. After successfully raising over $5000 in 2013 to provide school supplies for nearly 100 kids, we felt we should continue our efforts for these kids in need. So after conversations with the DoFO staff we determined the best need we could help with is raising $7500 to go towards remodeling and refurnishing the boys dormitory.

In order to raise the funds we’ve leveraged our ability to throw events and in the nightlife community and have a couple fundraisers around the corner. First one being at The Duck Dive in Pacific Beach on October 10th and the second being at Quality Social on December 6th in Downtown. We look forward to having you join us for one or both events. If you’re unable to attend and would still like to get involved or make a donation please contact us here!

The Door of Faith Orphanage

We are excited to be contributing to a great organization like Door of Faith Orphanage  (DOFO) because they are providing a home and family for 150 children. Children who have been abandoned or rescued from abusive situations or who have no biological family to care for them. Mexico has no social services, no foster care and gives no support to places like DOFO, so without the support of you and me, these children would not have food, clothing, education or even a safe place to sleep. DOFO not only provides all of these solely from donations, but they create a family, a supportive, safe environment for the children to not only survive, but thrive and follow their dreams. We are honored to be apart of making their dreams a reality with our donations as well as visiting DOFO to play with the kids and show our support by being physically present. Keep an eye out for our next Mexico adventure to visit the Door of Faith Orphanage as we campaign through 2014 with our Give Back Program

Over $5000 for School Supplies

Fortune 421 is not just a brand, but a way of life that focuses on being good people, giving back to the community around us and paying it forward. This has been the root of all things Fortune and the way the company has been ran since the beginning. Fortune has been supporting local philanthropy organizations with events like our Annual Bowling for Turkey and Annual Holiday Clothing drive which benefit Stand Up For Kids. We are proud to say that we are committed to donating 4.21% of all our fashion, music and event proceeds through our new Give Back Program.

For our first campaign this past summer we decided to incorporate our love of giving back with our love of travel. We began fundraising for Door of Faith Orphanage (DOFO) just south of Rosarito Mexico to help provide school supplies for over 100 children. All last summer we raised money from our swimwear and clothing sales and then had an end of summer party at Duck Dive which rose over $3000 making the grand total $5243 for DOFO. During our  trip to make the donation we discovered there is lots more that can be done for them so we’re continuing our Give Back efforts this year towards DOFO. So ever purchase you make from our online shop is truly sharing the Fortune.
