Chris Tran grew up fifteen minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in a small town called San Rafael. He drove down south to San Diego State University in 2000 and never looked back. After graduating with a degree in English and a minor in Film, Tran found himself working in the Nightlife industry managing at the Andaz Hotel and Stingaree nightclub. While he enjoyed meeting new people and making life long friends he quickly discovered that his passions were not aligned with his job and set out to make a change.
So after leaving the hospitality industry in downtown San Diego, he turned what was once a hobby and a passion into a full time venture with a goal to create awesomeness and capture the world via a camera. He currently shoots and edits video for projects based on everything from travel to fashion. Some are his own creative ideas to build up his portfolio and some are collaborating with brands like Fortune 421 and William Painter.
He believes that filming and editing are two very different processes that offer their own challenges. But when the two come together to produce work that is not only personally satisfying but entertaining for viewers, the reward is amazing. “It’s this feeling that fuels the drive needed to pursuit a passion that pushes me to discover the world” Trans said.
If at home editing, then you can find him searching for swells on the Pacific Coast Highway or with gloves on practicing the science of boxing. He longs to travel the world his camera capturing life while searching for good waves and good street food.
