The DiscoverSD x Fortune 421 Collaboration is the second release in our series. In mid 2011 the creative minds behind the San Diego website DiscoverSD.com began working with our team to create a special edition design that represents our combined lifestyle. DiscoversSD is a popular online portal for visitors to discover all that San Diego has to offer from the residents that live here. Fortune 421 and DiscoverSD have been working together on nightlife events since 2008 but we felt it was time to expand our efforts into fashion. Nadav Wilf and Nina Brunello of DSD sat down with our designer Jon Phenom and founder Jason Herrick to discuss the direction of the design. After a few meetings it was evident DSD wanted to portray the amazing city that we live in and the electronic music culture that we both support. The final result that we are proud to present is a graphic that combines a DJ playing to an enthusiastic crowd and the beautiful skyline of San Diego in the background. To us the “America’s Finest” tag line used represents the growing electronic music culture and day parties in San Diego. The Donald Glaude x Fortune 421 Collaboration is the first of its kind for our young clothing line. In late 2009 we began a creative process to create a T-shirt design and mixed CD with one our favorite house DJs, Donald Glaude. Donald is a pioneer in the house music scene and a legend behind the turntables with his passionate energy for his music and his fans. Donald sat down with our designer Jon Phenom and founder Jason Herrick to discuss what elements he would like to bring to life in his own signature T-shirt. Donald’s love for music and the tools he uses to create tracks in the studio along with thoughts of nostalgia for his love of the cassette tape was at the forefront of the discussion. After a few sessions we finally brought everything together into a design that we are all very proud of and excited to share with you on both the T-shirt and CD.
