The Share the Fortune division of our company is something that we hold very close to our hearts. Paying it forward and giving back are two thoughts that resonated strongly during the conception of this company. Strongly because owner Jason Herrick’s mother was homeless and living in shelters for ten plus years and his heart goes out to those who are in similar situations. The goal of this organization is to make a difference through leading by example. If we can dedicate a portion of our time, energy and proceeds of our company to the less fortunate then we are truly living and breathing our message of “spreading a fortune of love and life.” Whether it be through fundraising at our events, clothing drives during the holiday season or volunteering to feed the homeless our passion for giving back to those in need runs deep in our company. It really is the least we could do for having such an amazing opportunity to being living our dreams through Fortune 421. We hope that others will see our philanthropy side and feel moved to give back what they can within their communities as well!

Early on Fortune 421 looked for an organization to partner with that could reach homeless youth and we found Stand Up for Kids. A national non-profit volunteer outreach organization dedicated to going to the streets and making a difference in the lives of at-risk, homeless and street kids. We are proud to have worked with Stand Up since 2006 to help raise money and items in need for the kids. We have donated thousands of dollars and hundreds of clothing items each year and we look forward to helping more and more as we grow Fortune 421.
From www.standupforkids.org: The mission of STANDUP FOR KIDS is to help homeless and street kids. We do this, every day, in cities across America. We carry out our mission through our volunteers who go to the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve their lives. Our focus goes beyond street outreach and extends to deterrence and resource programs that we provide in schools and via the internet. But all facets of our mission are guided by the mandate that our volunteers shall tell kids they care about them and then, at every point, prove it.

A week before Thanksgiving each year Fortune Industries produces the Bowling for Turkey event to raise money for Thanksgiving dinner for some homeless youth of San Diego. The event takes place at East Village Tavern & Bowl and is home to the annual Industry Bowling Tournament. The bars and nightclubs of San Diego enter their best four players to compete for the championship and prizes. The Fleetwood holds the title from 2008 and will be looking to repeat this year so start practicing! If you are not able to attend please find a way to help give back to your community during Thanksgiving this year!
Each year at the Fortune Holiday party in San Diego we ask our friends and customers to dig deep into their closets and dust off all those unworn items of clothing. We ask for clothing donations so that we can take them to Stand Up for the homeless youth in hopes of keeping the kids warm through out the winter months. It seams that it is the least we can do to give back during the Holiday Season when these kids don’t even have families let alone some fresh clothes. It takes little effort on our part to make such a difference for others. Please take the time to donate old clothing items within your communities this coming Holiday Season!
